What is a Latino with out soap operas, or without "Novelas". Through many generations it has been a strong part of the Latino culture, from the grandmoms to the small kid watching novelas every night.

One of the most sucessful novelas of this days was Ugly Betty also known in Spanish as Bety La Fea. This soap opera was a remake of a very famous Colombian novela. In Colombia it sucess, but it was not as sucessful as the remake in Mexico. Bety was a character in the acting of Angelica Vale, daughter of famous Mexican singer Angelica Vale, and comedian Raul Vale.

The plot inf the soap opera was about how an ugly character falls in love with a good looking man that is her boss. Lety is a very smart character, she is a business woman, that has briliant ideas. Thanks to her hard work she saves from bankrupcy the corporation that she works for.

At the end of the soap opera or the novela she ends up with her love and she becomes a beautiful lady, she fixes herself up making her the most pretty character. She continues to be a sucessful person, and the are happy.

The English remake by Salma Hayek was also a sucessful series even though in the Latino community was very critized because they thought it was not an original but in reality is that we all miss the point, all of this soap operas are remakings, just with new updated issues.

It is all about ratings and keeping the Latino community entertained.
