She was born as Selena Quintanilla on April 16, 1971 in Lake Jackson Texas. She was knows as the Queen of the Tex-Mex, sometimes she was compared to the "Mexican Madonna". She started since she was a child with the family band named Los Dinos, where her brother and sister were part of, with her father Abraham Quintanilla as their manager.

In 1992 Selena marriade Chris Perez whom at that time he was the band's lead guitar player. In 1993 she continued strong and won the Grammy Award for Best Mexican-American Album in 1993 for her album Live. Some of her major hits had to be "Como la Flor and No me queda mas" who gave lots of popularity in her carreer

Selena was a woman with lots of talent not only music industry but in the fashion industry as well. She was a clothing designer who started designing her own outfits and in 1995 she also opened 2 boutiques up in San Antonio.

Unfortunatelly she did not live long to see all her sucess. Selena died on March 31, 1995, aftger been shoot by Yolanda Saldivar, the founder of her fan club. Her death was a shock to all of her fans specially in the Latino community. In the year 1997 Selena the movie cam on movie theaters. Selena the movie was a huge hit for Jennifer Lopez who was the star in the film.
